Ghaiwal bullets claim Marne man's sibling
BARELY a few days after the bloodshed on the Shivajinagar court premises, another gang war erupted late yesterday night. This time it was between the Marne and the Ghaiwal gangs, two old rivals.
Nilesh Ghaiwal and seven of his accomplices attacked Pappu alias Atul Kudle, a close aide of Gajanan Marne, said the police. The shooting resulted in the killing of Kudle's brother Sachin.
Ghaiwal had been externed from city limits in September 2009, but subsequently got the order cancelled.
The Ghaiwal-Marne rivalry goes back to June last year, when Kudle attacked Ghaiwal, leaving him with a scar on his face. According to sources, Ghaiwal was looking for an opportunity to take revenge on Kudle, who had hit Ghaiwal on the head. The police had arrested seven people after Gajanan Marne and his gang members had allegedly opened fire on Ghaiwal and his gang and attacked them with sharp weapons near the Cummins office.
Yesterday, Ghaiwal and his gang members chased Kudle, who was on his way to his residence in the Sinhgad area. Bullets missed Kudle by a whisker when Ghaiwal and his associates shot at his van. According to PI Dilip Chagule, "A minor, Akash Shinde, was called at the Dattawadi police station, regarding a complaint, and Kudle and his brother and a few others were summoned to the police station. And they were attacked while they were returning.
Ghaiwal, Gavde and few others intercepted them and fired bullets in their direction. They also flung a chopper in their direction. Sachin, Atul's brother, who was riding a Pulsar, was hit with a bullet in the gang war. Sachin Kudle was declared brought dead and according to the post-mortem report, the bullet punctured his lungs."
