Reportedly peeved at a protracted gastric disease, a private school teacher committed suicide in Pitampura area of northwest Delhi on Thursday night.

Ruby, 40, was found by her neighbour lying on the floor of her SP Block flat with both her wrists slashed. The neighbours called the police but she had died by then.

Ruby was working with a school in the area and her husband was out of town when the incident occurred. One of her next door neighbours, requesting anonymity, told MiD DAY that Ruby was depressed for quite some time.

"She used to keep by herself and did not interact much with us. She had some gastric disease and it might be the reason why she took the extreme step."

The police has sent the dead body for postmortem and informed Ruby's husband about the incident.
