Man of vision: Dr. NK Pattnaik said he will extend the services to
people in rural areas.
He said: "As I am an actor by profession, wearing glasses is a big hindrance to my career growth. After I underwent the surgery, I don't have to wear glasses anymore."
So is the case with many others who have undergone LASIK surgery recently at Dr. Pattnaik Laser Eye Institute (DPLEI) which recently got accreditation from NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals Healthcare Providers). Dr. NK Pattnaik, chairman, DPLEI, said: "We will try to use the technology used in LASIC to cure people in rural areas as well."
Regarding the accreditation, Dr. Girdhar J Gyani, CEO of NABH, said: "A hospital which has applied for accreditation should have competent systems. They have to maintain a particular level of services. We have awarded accreditation to DPLEI shows that they have followed all the norms and regulations.
This is the first eye hospital to be accredited in Delhi. Only 101 hospitals have been accredited in the last five years. This accreditation is given for three years after which it is reviewed again."DPLEI has partnered with an NGO, Pehle Aap, to conduct eye check-ups at different places across the city.
