An alternative punk rock band all the way from Chennai promises to give Bangaloreans a fresh and original sound. We give you some inside dope on the band
A part time radio jockey, a college student, a full time musician and a man with a day job have one thing in common.
They all belong to Junkyard Groove, a Chennai-based band that is coming to give Bangalore a unique and funky sound.
So if you are someone who believes that Indian bands truly rock, then don't miss this group of young fellas, who are here as a part of History Rocks, an all-India event organised by a television channel to promote music in the country.
In 2005, Junkyard Groove was formed because four young musicians felt the burning need to create something new. Junkyard literally means a place that stores a variety of odds and ends, anything from cars parts to stereo systems.

The band did not believe in categorising music into any particular genre and decided to name their group Junkyard Groove, with an aim to experiment with diverse sounds.
The band features Siddarth, on guitar, Ameeth on vocals, Craig on bass and Hudsein Fernandes on drums.

The band draws its inspiration from some global and local musicians like Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Coldplay, Lounge Piranha, AR Rahman and more.
However, the band, which is all set to wipe away your weekday blues, does not prefer playing covers as they feel that their own compositions express their thoughts the best.
"Our music is our life. We use our music to speak what we feel so it makes no sense for us to play other people's music," Siddarth aka Sid says.
The four members have diverse musical taste but they produce a cohesive sound that can be broadly termed as alternative punk rock.

According to Junkyard Groove, their sound is a bit like a crossover between the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and NickelBack. However, they claim that the difference does not affect their performance.
"Our music includes a lot of emotion, texture and feelings that all of us feel," Sid says. "And our individual style comes out in the way each of us play," he adds.
The band will play songs from their album Eleven Eleven for this concert. The lyrics, describe the pangs and joys of life.
They deal with various issues like love, relationships, break ups, strife with family and other such problems, which any young, urban chap can relate to.
