Bulldozer Sandwiches and Sizzlers, may seem like a strange name for a theme restaurant, but it's already a hit with the younger crowd in the area.
Ambience: From the word go, everything reminds you of cowboys and ranches. The logo consists of a hat with two horns and the interiors of the restaurant all point to the Wild West theme. Cowboy hats and pictures of popular 60s movies, such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Mackenna's Gold adorn the walls. You can catch Clint Eastwood, in full cowboy attire, glancing lazily through his veiled eyes. The Italian and Mexican music makes you want to tango and conjure an atmosphere of their own. The tables, the long-backed wooden chairs and cushions are dark brown. Plus, you can also see the chef actually prepare what you ordered.
The only thing that is lacking is space. The seating is cramped and the waiter often asks you to shift your table to make room for other diners.
We tried: We ordered the Greek Salad (Rs 80), which was refreshing. It was served in a wooden pan and consisted of fresh garden leaves, feta cheese, olives, bell-peppers, cherry tomatoes, green herbs and olive oil.
They get full marks for presentation and flavour. Then, we opted for Sizzler Mexicano in Chicken (Rs 180), which was served piping-hot, with smoke billowing out of the platter and was filled with colorful veggies. The rich combination of boneless chicken in All Pepper Sauce was served with cheese-mint rice. It seemed quite healthy as it contained egg-plants, potatoes, corn, cucumber and mushrooms. The tender chicken went well with
the sauce.
Range: Apart from offering sizzlers and sandwiches, Bulldozer also throws in some pastas and salads. They do not serve beef, mutton or pork. You can try out a Sandwich with French Bread, and opt for Focaccia, Baguettes or Bagels. They serve Veg Sandwiches (Rs 50), Chicken Sandwiches (Rs 60), Fish Sandwiches (Rs 80) and Prawn Sandwiches (Rs 100).
The French breads are sliced and layered with veggies and topped with a sauce of your choice Italian, Mexican, Cocktail, Oriental or Mayonnaise. Try the Currumboy Egg Salad (Rs 80), which is a preparation of eggs and crunchy celery, with a hint of Indian spices. They also have Pasta in Thousand Islands, which is available in many varieties. There are some pasta dishes, like Pasta Arrabiata (Rs 110 to Rs 170) and Pasta Olivo Olive (Rs 110 to Rs 170). The sizzlers are mainly continental, which includes Sizzling Satay (Rs 110 to Rs 130) and Sizzler Italiano (Rs 160 to Rs 240).If you have a sweet tooth, reach out for the Sizzling English Muffins (Rs 100) or Sizzling Brownies (Rs 110).
