A 22-year-old girl allegedly beat up an Uttarakhand cop and then tried to snatch his rifle with the help of her friend in Chankayapuri area in New Delhi district.

The commando, Anuj Panwar, was posted at Uttarakh-and Bhawan on night duty when the incident happened. The girl Sonam (name changed) was talking to her friend Rajjan Singh who had parked his bike near the gate of Uttarakhand Bhawan.

Anuj asked them to move away from the gate but they did not listen. The commando then called his senior official who made Sonam and Rajjan move away from the spot. After some time Sonam returned to the spot with Rajjan, scolded Anju and then slapped him. They tried to snatch Anuj's rifle. When Anju's colleagues rushed to the spot, the duo fled.

A senior police official said that an FIR in this regard was registered. The accused Rajjan was arrested on Thursday afternoon. "Sonam, who is doing teacher's training course from a private institute, is on the run", said the police official.
