A day after the Goa police registered an FIR against him, Monserratte appeared before the Crime Branch yesterday. He is yet to be arrested.

A complaint, filed at the Panaji police station and later transferred to the Women Police Station, states that the accused hatched a conspiracy and allegedly sold the girl to Monserratte in March for sexual exploitation.

The complaint further reads that Monserratte kept the minor in confinement and administered some stupefying substance before exploiting her on several occasions.
