Enter film-making's newest formu00a0-- photography. Model-turned-actor Bikram Saluja couldn't resist combining two of his greatest inspirations into a compilation commendably creative. 'An Actor's Inspiration,' as his coffee table book is called, is an endeavour that interprets in an Indian milieu Al Pacino's path-breaking character Michael Corleone from Francis Ford Coppola's 'The Godfather' and Robert De Niro's as Jake La Motta from Martin Scorsese's 'Raging Bull' through the medium of still photography. The two films have been adapted with a fresh perspective and in a different backdrop. The photo-seriesu00a0 has been shot in real locations in the format of a film, with actors performing live in front of the still camera. Though the title is not available for sale yet, a preview of the inspired pictures is on in the capital. Copyright permissions in place.

Double-cross dare

The photo-essay, shot in desi settings, puts Bikram in the shoes of the leading characters. "I wanted to do something of my own, something that has never been done. Never ever have films inspired a book of still pictures, and that's the most defining part of the book.u00a0 So, conceptualising, interpreting and directing this book gives a creative high of different sorts. My effort of four years hasn't been wasted, since the book is engaging enough to draw the readers and viewers to the depth of the narrative," he elaborates. We're not telling you how he interweaves both plots; that'd give away too much.

The intensity of the pictures can be gauged from the fact that noted photographers Ronny Sequeira and Hardeep Sachdev have shot them in impactful locations. "Each scene leads to another, in a sequence. Every figure in the collection has been shot live in front of the still camera. We're trying to make the book available on the counter, but as of now, we have only been authorised for private distribution by the copyright holders of the filmsu00a0- Paramount Pictures (The Godfather) and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, MGM (Raging Bull)," adds the actor, who has been part of films like 'Page 3', 'Fiza' and 'Umrao Jaan'. A see change.
