Heartened with the response to the third edition of its initiative, BMTC plans to rope in celebrities to promote its next Bus Day on May 4
Expect celebrities, including Golden Ganesh, to join you on your daily commute on the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation's (BMTC) fourth Bus Day on May 4.
The BMTC's Bus Day initiative aims to encourage use of public transport to save fuel, reduce traffic and lower pollution.
Celebrities, including film stars, industrialists, theatre personalities and litterateurs are expected to promote the initiative on Bus Day by travelling in BMTC buses.

"We plan to have celebrities in all our special buses across Bangalore on Bus Day next month," said V Nagraj, Divisional Traffic Officer, BMTC.
The third Bus Day, which was held yesterday after a trial run in the ITPL and Electronic IT corridors, is expected to be more colourful in its fourth edition.
"The response is encouraging," added Nagraj. "The third Bus Day was better compared to the last two. We want the fourth one to be even better.

Roping in celebrity Bangaloreans is a step in that direction."
Celebrities including golden star Ganesh and actress Jaymala are among those listed to promote the cause.
Five committees appointed by the BMTC are working hard to make sure the initiative that calls upon citizens to give up private vehicles for public transport.
"Celebrities will definitely influence the masses to give up private vehicles.
This will add to the popularity of Bus Day in the months ahead," said S Vishwanath, general secretary, Outer Ring Road Companies' Association (ORRCA), an association of IT companies working with BMTC to make the Bus Day initiative a grand success.

Golden star Ganesh said he was happy doing his bit for the city. "I don't mind doing it if it is for a better Bangalore," said Ganesh.

"Initiatives like this help us respond constructively to challenges like global warming caused by increasing vehicles. It is also an answer to the city's traffic woes."
