The tent at Hemmigepura near the Expressway, from where he started an indefinite strike against NICE on January 5 and which is touted by his supporters as a spot for some ongoing intense protest activities, is often empty. What's more, the local villagers use the same tent to rehearse drama.

But according to sources, Deve Gowda is believed to be unaware of what's going on and that might be the reason that he started his six-day statewide agitation from same the place.

"We have completed 43 days of our protest and will continue our agitation till our demands are met," said Panchalingaiah, a farmer from Hemmigepura. However, when this reporter visited the spot, all that he saw was a slate mentioning the number of days the protest has being going on. Besides, there were no protestors around.

"The tent is being used for rehearsals of Mahabharata and not for the purpose it was primarily set up. It was used for staging protests for a few days and now, it's empty and is only used by the locals to practice drama," said a source from Hemmigepura.

"Over eight artists have been rehearsingu00a0 the Mahabharata for the last few days," informed a source. He added that the tent is always vacant and the indefinite strike is just for namesake. However, Deve Gowda supporters deny this.

"The protest is on and we stay in the tent through out," said R Prasad another farmer. When asked the reason why nobody was in the tent at that time, he said, "All of them have gone out for some or the other work. They will be back shortly."
