Muniyappa, a 50-year old watchman, was stabbed at the Janata Dal (S) party's office yesterday morning.
Two sweepers noticed the body with multiple stab injuries on the stairs of the office leading to the first floor early in the morning.
They promptly informed Ramesh Babu, the general secretary, who informed the police.
According to the High Grounds police, Muniyappa was found murdered with multiple stab injuries, including injuries on his genitals.
The Janata Dal (S) party's office where Muniyappa's body was found yesterday morning.
This led the police to suspect that the reason behind the murder could be an illicit relationship.
Based on clues, the police checked Muniyappa's background and found that he had a 'close relationship' with a
40-year-old woman, a ground level staff working at the same office.
Detailed questioning further revealed that she was pregnant with his child.
She told the cops that her family had recently come to know about their relationship, and had expressed anger over the issue, with one of them even swearing revenge. That member is now absconding.
Inspector Virupakshappa from the High Ground police station said, "We have sent to a team to the neighbouring district to nab him, where we suspect he might be taking shelter."
