With six more deaths, the swine flu toll in the city has now reached 285. This is the highest number of deaths in one day in the city in the recent past.
The deceased were undergoing treatment at various hospitals and were later tested H1N1 positive, said Deshpande, Deputy Director, Health Services. All of them had high fever, cough and breathlessness, he added.
The deceased include Radhika Yashwant Mohite (26), a Hinjewadi resident, Varun, an infant, Deepali Ratnakar Panchal (7) from Rashta Prem Nagar Dighi, Samel Prabhakar(70) from Sus Road Pashan, Nivrutti Bhairu Pawar (44) from Wadki Gaon Pimple Mala and Jeetendra Dattatraya Kasad (42) from Warje.
According to Deshpande, there are 111 patents undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the city, after being tested H1N1 positive; 21 are in serious condition and have been put on ventilator support. In addition 118 are awaiting their test results, he said.
