Several movie ticket websites and movie halls have drawn the ire of the Bombay High Court for charging customers an additional amount for 'Internet handling fees' or 'convenience charges'

As per an April 4 General Resolution (GR), websites and theatre owners are not supposed to be charging customers any additional amount but have been doing so owing to which the court on Thursday asked the Mumbai and Mumbai suburban collectors to file affidavits on the matter. Acting on a PIL by lawyer Sunil Lalla, the division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice MS Sanklecha ordered the collectors to file affidavits on steps they had taken to implement the GR.

The court has also directed other respondents Reliance's BIG Cinemas, Fame India Ltd, INOX cinemas, BookMyShow.com, Sterling, Globus, and several other big names to file their affidavits by June 25. The matter has been slated for hearing on June 27. Lalla approached the court after he noticed he was being charged an additional Rs 13 for a movie ticket.
