When it comes to setting the shutter aflutter, 20-year-old Shiv Ahuja chooses concert over conceit
While living in extremes seems exciting, it's the mean path that mostly works. So when Delhi boy Shiv Ahuja started chasing his varied passions for music and photography separately, he found himself in a difficult position, torn between the two.u00a0 That's when he decided to merge them. It startedu00a0 two years back, when he offered to shoot a gig only tou00a0 get free entry to the concert. "However, whatu00a0 started as a profession soon turned into an obsession. My debut solo exhibition of rock-and-roll photography stands proof," smiles Shiv.
Big digs
Among the exhibits will be the photog's click work of some of the biggest rock festivals, like Eastwind, Big Horn, Great Indian Rock and Indian rock bands in performance u2014 Indian Ocean, Parikrama, Faridkot, Shaa'ir n Func, Menwhopause,u00a0 Advaita and Raghu Dixit, to name a few. "There are few candid, behind-the-scenes shots of bands. However, a major chunk of my work is concert photography, which I photographed while attending functions and gigs. Apart fromu00a0 adding artistic value, I also hope that the exhibition will garner more interest among music aficionados," says Shiv, who's also a final-year student of Economics at Kirori Mal College.
Just 18
The exhibition features around 18 works, and captures interesting moments in and around concerts.
And that's not all. While you can admire his works, there's also some great music playing in the background.
"Delhi is the hub of various genres of music, so what better way than to mix the both of them up!"
