Man arrested with 81 counterfeit Rs100 notes confesses he wanted to settle score after being cheated by sex worker
Sakharam Bhuraram Borana (30) was arrested on charges of printing counterfeit notes on Monday from Budhwar Peth.
Initial investigations revealed Borana printed the notes because he wanted to take revenge against a sex worker at Budhwar Peth.
u00a0According to the police, Borana, who was caught with 81 fake Rs 100 notes, admitted that since he did not have enough money, he purchased a colour printer and printed fake currency.
Senior Police Inspector of Faraskhana police station Venkat Gangalwad said, "Borana has no cross border connection. We suspect that he did this only to get over the money crunch."
Borana, who earlier ran a street food stall outside a hospital, recently shifted to Hadapsar, where he sold food from a cart. The police received information that he would be approaching Budhwar Peth with fake currency. A team of led by Police Sub-Inspector Pore intercepted a person and found 81 currency notes in his pocket. They learnt he was waiting for a person planning to buy notes from him.
Of the 81 counterfeit notes, over 20 displayed the same serial number. The currency notes were sent to an expert for analysis.
The police produced Borana in court and he was remanded in police custody for two days.
