People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA) has asked Air India to help its hostesses shed weight instead of sacking them.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA) has asked Air India to help its hostesses shed weight instead of sacking them.

Reacting to the termination notices served to 10 air hostesses by Air India in the last week of December for being overweight, Anuradha Sawhney of the PeTA said, "Go Veg Go Slim, it's really that simple! Meat-eaters are fatter.

The only regimen that's proved to take weight off and keep it off is a low-fat vegan diet," Sawhney said. "Obesity can be reversed by switching to a vegan diet, the best way to lose weight and keep it off," Sawhney said in a letter sent to the chief managing director of Air India Raghu Menon.

Excess baggage

"We hope you take this compassionate step to help your staff to drop their excess baggage and you will not have to resort to sacking them," Sawhney said in the letter.
