be involved in a series of auto theft cases in the Capital.
The Delhi Police arrested N Reagan, 28, and W Kanan Kumar, 37, both residents of Manipur, who were involved in hundreds of auto-lifting cases and seized 18 cars from their possession. Police sources said the duo admitted to their links to the son of a senior Manipur politician, on interrogation.
The arrests were made on a tip-off that several cars were being sent to the North East through the rail route and the booking was done in the name of one Kanan Kumar. "On April 8, eight cars were booked for Manipur. Enquiries from Railway Parcel Service revealed that a large number of Hyundai i10 and Santro cars have been sent to the North East, particularly Deemapur, which is the last railway station on the track, in a very frequent manner."
"We developed the information and arrested the duo on April 20 at around 1:30 pm and recovered 18 cars," said a police official.
MODUS OPERANDI
During the interrogation, the two confessed to have sent more than 200 stolen cars to Deemapur and Imphal through the railways. The two received the demand of cars from Manipur through their associates and accordingly stole the new cars.

Apart from the cars the police have also seized a laptop, pen drives, keys, number plates, fake vehicle registration certificates of Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Manipur and a lock breaking instrument kit. |
They used to break into the cars with instruments available to them. They also took help from Sanjay, an electrician, for starting cars equipped with electronic chip system. They used to park the stolen cars after changing the number plates.u00a0
The duo is well qualified and stayed in some of the posh colonies of Delhi. While Regan is BE (Electronic and telecommunication) Kanan is BSc (Zoology).
