A police official said that Vinay, the complainant, works as an accountant at a firm in Nirman Vihar area and lives in Ghonda colony in north east Delhi. Soni was a neighbour. They had known each other for years. Their friendship turned into love and they decided to get married. But the woman's relatives were against this. They even threatened them. But the couple got married secretly at an Arya Samaj temple. They then started living together.

When the woman's family found out about the marriage, they called up the couple and threatened to kill them in the name of honour. Vinay and Soni approached the local police and lodged a complaint. The woman also filed a petition with Delhi High Court.

Soni's family didn't attend the first two hearings. On November 22 it was the third hearing of the matter. Around five to six persons from the girl family had come. According to Vinay, they spoke with him politely.

"Then on the pretext of having tea they took my wife outside. They then forcibly pushed her into an auto-rickshaw. I then called up the police and got an FIR registered. She is still missing, I am scared that her family might kill him in the name of honour," said Vinay. Cops said they are looking into the matter and a search is on to find Soni.
