Lucknow: Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who was allegedly threatened by Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, on Monday said he wants the CBI to probe the entire matter.
Thakur, who has also been slapped with rape charges, added that he will take up the matter with the Union Home Ministry.
'Mulayam Singh had no right or authority to threaten me. We are going to Delhi today to take our matter with Home Ministry. We want a CBI inquiry into this and want some security,' Thakur told ANI.
'Why should I quit my service? There is no reason for me to do so,' he added.
A rape case had been lodged against the IPS officer in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar police station a day after he released an audio in which the Samajwadi Party chief was purportedly threatening him.
The IPS officer's wife has also been accused of taking part in the conspiracy.
The woman had lodged a similar case against the IPS officer on December 31, 2014. But then, the case had not been registered against him.
