The Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has selected 55 core probables for intensive training ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games here leaving out some big names who did not take part in the coaching camps and trials. The intensive training will begin with a coaching camp of 25 lifters from among the 55 in Hungary from March 26 to May 5 though it is subject to clearance by the Sports Ministry. At the end of the camp, 15 lifters - eight men and seven women -- out of the 25 will be chosen to take part in the Asian Senior Championships at Taldykorgan in Kazakhstan from May 9-16. The 2010 CWG core probables, the Hungary campers and a preliminary list for the Asian Championships were finalised at a selection committee meeting in Patiala last week after trials were held from January 28 to 31 and March 7. Performance over the last five years, Commonwealth and Asian rankings, Sinclair rating, age of lifters, dope history, medal winning potential in CWG 2010, flexibility of body weight were taken into account in the selection. The list does not include Melbourne Commonwealth Games gold medalist in 48kg Kunjarani Devi and Monika Devi, who is fighting a case of dope charge in the Delhi High Court.
