New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said India was committed to assist Nepal in every way possible in dealing with the situation after a massive earthquake jolted the Himalayan nation.
Mujherjee expressed grief over the deaths due to the earthquake, and conveyed his sympathies to Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav.
Nepal Earthquake: The day the Earth shook
At least 1,570 people have died in Nepal in the quake that measured 7.9 on the Richter scale.

"I was deeply concerned to hear of the disastrous earthquake that struck Kathmandu this (Saturday) morning, causing loss of lives and widespread damage to property," Mujherjee said in a letter to his Nepalese counterpart.
"I am confident that the relief and rescue operations being conducted by your government will be swift and successful. The government and the people of India stand by the people of Nepal in this difficult hour and remain committed to assist in every way possible," he said.
