The Kuoni Holiday Report 2011 busts some serious myths about the Indian traveller. Say hello to the pick-up-line-toting desi wanderer

Pre-travel research for the Indian woman traveller includes checking costs, and preparing to look their best, via diet, exercise and shopping. The Indian man just packs his bag, collects his cash and passport, and leaves.
That's one of the findings of the Kuoni Holiday Report 2011, which says 65 per cent of women admitted to preparing for a holiday by -- you said it -- shopping.

That doesn't mean men don't like clothes. Twenty six per cent of men admitted to dressing more provocatively during the day when on holiday, while more than half of the people surveyed from Chennai (51 per cent) wear clothes that remind them of holiday when they're back.

Indians, in general put fun at the top of their priority list when on vacation. New experiences and adventure are neck-and-neck at second place (58 and 57 per cent, respectively). And while you might think we're loud and obnoxious, surprise surprise! Thirty five and 34 per cent Indians surveyed, rated taking pictures of others without asking and talking loudly as their top two annoyances while on holiday.

Vegetarianism be damned. Indians are getting more adventurous with food when abroad; 71 per cent said they eat a mixture of local foods and the food they eat at home, when on holiday.u00a0 Here, women are the ones indulging themselves in different kinds of food -- 45 per cent versus 35 per cent of men.

Most interesting, however, is the romantic and sexual behaviour on holiday. Seventy-five per cent like to do it on the beach, while we even rank ourselves as top holiday flirts, compared to citizens of other countries.
How's that for some interesting revelations?
