Have I stepped into a spa and salon or a corporate office? I take in the sleek decor and the quietly efficient professionals. Five minutes in the lobby of YLG in Koramangala and I'm escorted to a comfortable corner, where my hair and my skin are analysed.

Santosh, the hair expert, suggests a bio hair spa for my dry and brittle hair andu00a0 Bhavya, the skin care expert, declares that the summer sun has seared the skin on my hands and feet! A de-tan manicure and pedicure are recommended.

Before leading me off to the rooms where nirvana awaits, I'm asked to part with my phone number and address, so that my profile can go into their database which also holds the gory secrets of my skin and hair, so that they won't have to ask me these questions the next time I traipse in for my treatments!u00a0

u00a0On an impulse, I decide to try out My Waxer which is a fancy gadget not a person, in case you were wondering. YSL is said to be the first salon to have it in Bangalore. It does away with sticky wax and spatulas, and instead works as a roll-on which the beautician movesu00a0 along the skin deftly. It leaves a layer of warm wax evenly and the the normal waxing procedure continues. It was so simple and I must confess, less painful!

The hair spa too has evolved from steam to mist, which means no warm streaks of oil trickling down your forehead anymore.

As for the de-tan pedicure and manicure, they left me with lighter palms and feet. The challenge now is to match my complexion with this new shade!
