A high-profile sex racket with international linkages, involving girls from Central Asian Republics and erstwhile Republics of Soviet Union, was busted in the Capital on Wednesday.

On the basis of a complaint of one Tawus Mohammed Nurowa, a woman from Turkmenistan, the Delhi police conducted a raid on December 20 on a house in South Delhi where the racket was operating, police said, adding that two people, including a Uzbek national, have been arrested in the case.

The police arrested Umidda Devanova, wife of the main accused Rajnish Sharma, after the raid.

Sharma was later arrested on January 16.

After interrogation, Umidda said girls from Central Asian Republics and erstwhile Republics of Soviet Union were being brought on the pretext of starting business in areas of fashion, garment design and modelling.

But once they land in India, their passports were taken away from them.

Since they were helpless and new in this place, they was easily forced into prostitution, the police said. Police are yet to arrest one Intizor, an Uzbeki national, who is a third accused in the case.
