Janardhana Reddy, who is in the eye of a storm, will soon have a fan club made of working professionals solely dedicated to him

Tourism minister and mining baron Janardhana Reddy is the latest to join the line of netas enjoying 'fandom', as his first-ever fans association is all set to take off, even when congress leaders launch a scathing attack on him.

With an exclusive line of personalised merchandises, the association aims to send out a message, 'Not everybody hates the Reddys'.

"The Janardhana Reddy fans association will soon start off," said S Kumar, president, Janardhana Reddy fans association. "All preparations are complete and we are waiting for a final say from him."

The fans claim that Reddy still has no clue about their plans, and they hope to get his approval.

The members have surfaced in BJP's first of four public rallies in Davangere for the first time, condemning the Opposition party Congress's 320-km padayatra from the city to Bellary, and protesting the ruling party's misrule and failure in tackling the illegal mining issue.

Extended support

Over 20 members and 60 workers from the city, including working professionals, have extended their support to the leader.

"We all are working professionals and decided to start this club, since he is being portrayed in a bad light by the congressmen," said Vasanth Raj, working president of the association.

The association, with its head office in the city plans to establish its branches in 28 cities in the state.

After the association is established, Reddy fans plan to set right the leader's tarnished image. "We want to create awareness about him among the people," said Kumar.

Reddy merchandise

The association, unlike others, is coming up with a set of Reddy merchandise too. This includes a personalised flag of their own, in red and yellow colours with Reddy's picture in between. Besides badges and shawls, there are t-shirts and caps as well. More would follow once the leader gives his nod.

However, these professionals, who have lined up a 10-point programme to be carried out in Reddy's name, have done all this without his knowledge. They plan to launch this after a meeting with Reddy shortly, and expect him to give a go ahead.
