Mumbai: Officials of Arthur Road Jail here, where former media baron Peter Mukerjea has been kept in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case, today opposed his plea for home-made food in prison, which he has sought citing ailments.
"The jail officials said that they can make the food less spicy and less oily for Peter. However, they objected to our home food application," said Peter's lawyer Kushal Mor.
The court is likely to pass an order on Peter's application tomorrow.
Two days back, Peter, through Kushal Mor, had moved an application in a magistrate court seeking home food in jail as he is a "senior citizen having heart ailments and has been taking medicine to lower his cholesterol". The same day his judicial custody was extended till December 28 by the court.
CBI, which is investigating the case, had also opposed his home food application.
Meanwhile, Indrani (43), her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her ex-driver Shyamvar Rai, who have been charge sheeted in the case, would be produced before the special CBI court tomorrow as the court had adjourned the case till December 17.
Peter, 59, husband of the prime accused Indrani Mukerjea, was arrested on November 19 for his alleged role in the murder case and was in CBI custody.
He has been kept at the high-security Arthur Road Jail here, where other two accused in the case -- Sanjeev Khanna and Shyamvar Rai -- are also lodged.
He was later taken to Delhi by CBI for conducting a polygraph test on him and brought back to Mumbai by month-end. Sheena (24) was allegedly strangled in a car and then her body burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad, about 84 kms from Mumbai.
The victim was Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship. CBI, while maintaining that financial transaction was the motive behind the murder of Sheena, had earlier said that Peter, during his interrogation, disclosed investments of crores of rupees made by him and Indrani and is expecting information from Interpol on the details of an account opened by Indrani in a bank in Hong Kong.
