A clash between two groups in a gurudwara in Vienna, in which 11 people were injured yesterday, triggered tension in Punjab and curfew was imposed. Security was tightened after protestors torched a truck, a State Bank of India ATM and damaged several vehicles.
The protestors blocked roads and highways inu00a0 Jalandhar and in the nearby industrial town of Phagwara.
"Curfew has been imposed in Jalandhar city following violence. Road and rail traffic has been affected," said IGP Sanjiv Kalra, Jalandhar range. Trains were also affected. Members of the Sikh sect, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha took to the streets against the Vienna incident.
