A group of unidentified robbers allegedly kept the family of a jeweller hostage at gunpoint and decamped with Rs 50,000 cash and jewellery worth lakhs, in Jyoti Nagar area of east Delhi on Monday night.u00a0According to police officials, the victim was identified as Ravinder (35), who owns a jewellery shop and resides in New Ashok Nagar area of Jyoti Nagar.u00a0

"Ravinder was asleep, along with his family, when the robbers barged in. Four men broke into the first floor of his house. They entered the residence through a stairway which was not locked. The assailants kept hostage the family members at gunpoint and fled with the loot. When Ravinder tried to resist, he was stabbed in his leg," the police officer said.
According to cops, the victim runs a jewellery shop on the ground floor of his house and stays with his family on the first floor. While leaving the house, the robbers allegedly kept his son hostage at gunpoint and took him to a nearby street while leaving the house with the loot. They left him there before escaping from the area.
"A case regarding the incident has been registered against unidentified persons under appropriate sections of IPC and a hunt is on to nab the accused," a senior police official said.
