Police suspect the owners' involvement in the S B Jewellers' heist at Vidyaranyapura on Saturday. Burglars entered the shop through a tunnel when the owners had gone out for lunch and left with nearly 7 kg gold worth over Rs 1 crore.

Police, who were interrogating the owners till yesterday, said they were confident of cracking the case within three days.A nearby shop owner who did not wish to be named added to the police's theory saying the owner was in debt. He had taken loans for his sister's marriage and had again spent a lot of money on her treatment when she fell ill. Police said, all the jewellery was insured.

Well-planned

According to a senior police officer, the burglary was meticulously planned and neatly executed. There was no trace of the soil from the tunnel that had been dug out. The soil had been taken out, without leaving a clue.

Alok Kumar, joint commissioner (crime), who is heading the probe, has formed eight teams to investigate.
