A youth set a teenaged girl who had spurned him on fire in Haryana's Yamunanagar town, police said. Her condition is critical.
The victim, a Class 10 student, was alone at home when the accused, Sonu, proposed marriage to her. When she refused, he left her house but returned after some time with a bottle of kerosene, poured it over her and lit a match. He then fled the spot.
The girl received 65 per cent burns and was admitted to a government hospital where doctors said that her condition was critical.
The victim's mother told the police that the youth had been stalking her for the last few months but she had spurned his advances which left him infuriated and he took the extreme step.
