Within two hours, the traffic on the arterial S V Road was slowed down to a snail-like pace between Jogeshwari and Santacruz. The situation of traffic on the Western Express Highway was not any better, and slow moving traffic was witnessed between Jogeshwari and Bandra, with motorists taking as much as three hours to reach south Mumbai.
Similarly, the situation of traffic on the Eastern Express highway between Ghatkopar and Chembur was also no different as long traffic jams were witnessed on the crucial connecting roadway.
Before the monsoons, various agencies like BMC and MMRDA had claimed that the pre-monsoon preparation work has been completed and so there won't be any problem, but after just two hours of rains it was seen that water logging had started taking place.
Water logging was also witnessed at Malad and Andheri subway, but as high power de-watering pumps were installed at these locations by the BMC, the water was pumped out immediately.
