Tainted Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi is expected to turn up for the inauguration of the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) ambitious project, 'Papillon', a butterfly garden on March 8. Bollywood actress Dimple Kapadia will also be present on the occasion.
The organisers Aba Bagul and Mayor Mohansihgh Rajpal has put Kalmadi's name in the list of dignitaries including Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Cultural Minister Harshwardhan Patil and Minister of Forest Patangrao Kadam. Mayor Rajpal will chair the function that will take place in Sahakarnagar.
Kalmadi had not turned up for the inauguration of Bhimsen Joshi Music Library on February 10.
Aba Bagul, local Congress corporator, who took the initiative in the Papillon project, said: "We are all positive that he will be present for this important event. At this moment, Kalmadi is in Bangkok and is expected to be back today," he said.
Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation team was in the city to conduct raids on Kalmadi's bank lockers.
"So far, we don't see any problem in his visit. He is an MP and may get stuck up in meetings at Parliament as March 8 is a Tuesday, a working day," Bagul said. "We have put his name on the invitation, so he shall come."
