Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was admitted to Apollo Hospital todayu00a0after he complained of uneasiness following a stomach upset and high fever, officials said.
"Hectic electioneering onu00a0Saturday night and overnight travel from Tiruchirappalli has taken its toll on the leader. But for some uneasiness, fever and lack of sleep due to stomach upset, there are no causes for worry," said a police official.
The 86-year-old DMK chief has been admitted to the intensive care unit of Apollo Hospital and is undergoing a series of tests. There is, however, no cause for concern, DMK sources said.
DMK officials refrained from commenting on the three public meetings the chief minister was scheduled to address later Sunday.
"A decision will be taken in the afternoon after consulting doctors," the DMK source said.
Karunanidhi had gone on a fast April 27 in support of a ceasefire in Sri Lanka. He called it off the same day after Colombo said it was ending "combat operations" against the Tamil Tigers.
