Gurgaon will have GPS-fitted bus stops that will track the movement of vehicles
While standing at a bus stop, how many times have you wished that there should be some way to know exactly how far away the bus is so that you could grab a quick snack without missing it?

Or, after getting down at a stop, you wanted to complain about a rude conductor but never found any place nearby to do it? If you're a resident of Gurgaon, then these wishes of yours might be fulfilled soon.
The city is all set to get hi-tech bus stands which will be fitted with Global Positioning Systems (GPS), to help commuters know when exactly the buses will arrive at the stop. The stands will have phones and complaint boxes that will enable commuters to lodge their grievances directly with the authorities. They will also have a seating arrangement for 20 people and a chart that will display timings of the buses plying on the route.
Twenty such bus stands will be constructed across the city. "So far, Gurgaon authority and Haryana Roadways have decided on the locations of only four stands. We are carrying out a survey and have marked certain important locations in the city which see heavy rush of passengers during most of the day. The final decision will be taken only after the survey is completed," said Keshni Anand Arora, finance commissioner of transport department.
"The authorities should start such projects earnestly, but at the same time they should also improve the condition of roads," said SP Singh Coordinator, Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training.
Abroad spectrum
The bus stops in San Francisco are developed from recycled material and are completely energy efficient. They have solar panels on their tops that help run intercom, LED lights and WiFi routers fitted in the stands. As for the unused energy, it's transmitted to the grid for others to use.
