WHEN the Delhi police claims to have fool-proof security for the Commonwealth Games, a theft in a ministry office raises serious concerns.

Two LCD monitors were stolen from the office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Ministry of Labour and Employment. The office is located on the fifth floor of Shram Shakti Bhawan, which is in a high security zone of New Delhi district. Two police personnel are reportedly deployed at the building.

Parliament Street police is investigating the matter. Cops told this reporter that Ajay Joshi, an administrative official with the ministry, complained to the police regarding the theft of the computer monitors.

"The computers were stolen from room number 505 and 506. We were surprised to know that the thief reached the fifth floor of the building. The door locks of both rooms were found broken by the official who discovered the theft. After the police were informed, a team visited the spot. Later, an FIR was filed at the Parliament Street police station," said a senior police officer. The police is suspecting the role of an insider as entry into the Bhavan is not easy.

When this reporter visited the spot, he was stopped by two police personnel at the entry gate. One of them, asked the reporter the reason of his visit. When he expressed his wishes to enter the premises he was asked to display a PIB card.

No one's safe

Police suspected the role of an insider in the incident but failed to make any arrest in this respect.u00a0 Caretaker of the health centre Tasmim Ahmed had told the police that he gave the office keys to a CPWD employee who had returned it at night after clearing the rainwater that had accumulated inside the office.u00a0 But when Ahmed came on duty the next day he found the doors of the health centre open and some items missing from room.
On July 4 this year, the house of Congress MP Harish Chaudhary was targeted by unidentified assailants who made away with cash and valuables. Chaudhary is MP from Barmer district of Rajasthan. The incident was reported from North Avenue area of Parliament Street. Chaudhary's servant informed the police about the incident after which an FIR was registered with Parliament Street Police Station.
