Pop music is like an alternative drug for kids who can't afford the real sh't. Lady Gaga understands that very well, and uses her trippy music to cause the same hallucinating effect. Her techno-laced vocals convince you that she's "bluffing with her muffin". Doesn't take much to hit your attention, does it?
Lyrics are luridly inane, but who wants pop musicians to pass an IQ test? Songs begin with phrases like "cherry-cherry boom-boom bang-bang". Dance away. Beautiful Dirty Rich is superficial hauteur at its best. You could strut your stuff on an imagined ramp anywhere the song is played, and you'd be The Princess flashing her jewels. The title track has great guitar riffs mixed with a drum loop and echo vocals banging your head in much the same way as Kylie Minogue once did with Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
Boys Boys Boys reminds us of our own Boys boys boys yeh paagal ladke, when Karisma Kapoor mouthed it years ago in Khuddaar. Lady Gaga's boys are no different; chasing her skirt (or leotards). The cheerleading chorus girls cry out, "we love them, we love them". There'll be a riot soon.
Don't be surprised when the morning after you go pestering friends on Facebook who it really was you were swishing your tush to the night before. Fergie? Stefani? Christina? Lady Gaga who? Wakey, wakey sunshine.
