Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday allocated ministries to his new ministers, making RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's younger son Tejaswi the deputy chief minister


Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday allocated ministries to his new ministers, making RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's younger son Tejaswi Yadav the deputy chief minister.

Lalu's elder son Tej Pratap is the new health minister, official sources said.

While Nitish Kumar retained Home, Information and Publicity and General Administration departments with him, he gave Road Construction and Buildings Construction portfolio to 26-year-old Tejaswi, his Deputy CM. Tejaswi has also been allocated the portfolios of PWD, forest and environment, according to official sources. Tej Pratap has been given Health.

In an indication of his place in the order of pecking, Tejaswi followed the chief minister in oath taking as his parents Lalu and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers, watched amidst full-throated cheers from the RJD activists in the gathering.

Tej Pratap was the third personality to take oath in the ceremony.

Nitish Kumar's son Nishant and elder brother Satish were present on the occasion.

Lalu Prasad's entire family including wife Rabri Devi and seven daughters along with sons-in-law sat in THE VVIP area and were seen cheering Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav in particular.

RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui has got the finance portfolio while JD-U leader Vijayander Yadav has been given the energy department.

Senior JD-U leader Lalal Singh, known to be close to Nitish Kumar, has been given the water resources development portfolio.

Congress leader Ashok Choudhary is the new education minister.
