Former revenue minister Basavaraj Rayireddy's suitcase with several important documents inside went missing on Monday; cops recover it minutes after complaint is lodged
The briefcase of Basavaraj Rayireddy, former revenue minister and Congress functionary, was stolen from his car at the busy Sony World Junction on Monday. However, the case that contained his I-card, official letterheads and several important documents was recovered soon after the incident.

The theft
The theft reportedly took place when Rayireddy was in a spectacle shop, while his driver, R Gururaj, waited for him in the car. Gururaj heard something bang on to the car and that's when he got off the vehicle to check what had happened.
There was no one around. At this point, he discovered that the briefcase kept on the backseat of the car had gone missing.
A complaint was filed at the Koramangala police station after which the cops swung into action and recovered the briefcase that was abandoned on the Ring Road near Domlur. The complaint, it was said that the briefcase had original sale deed of Rayireddy's flat, his ATM cards, driving license, office keys and his MLA letterhead.
K Nagraj, inspector, Koramangala police station, said, "The thieves might have dumped the briefcase, as it didn't contain any cash. However, we are still looking for the person who stole the briefcase."
Notorious junction
Several instances of theft have been witnessed at the Sony World Junction of late. Besides, the Koramangala police station reports at least one such case every week. Despite preventive measures adopted by the cops, such attention diversion thefts continue here unabated.
