Saket Patwardhan top scores in the city with ranking of 7
Even as results of Maharashtra Health and Technology Common Entrance Test (MHTCET) were announced yesterday, there was small cause for celebration among the city students of which only six got into the top 100. Saket Patwardhan was the best scorer in the city with a ranking of seventh in the state and a score of 192. Other students in the top 100 from the city were Ashutosh Kankal from Fergusson College, Parikshit Pinjare from Modern College, Hrishikesh Tekade from Apte College, Bhavesh Rathi and Aditya Hollani from SP college. The engineering topper was Pritesh Chajed from a Nashik college affiliated to University of Pune, while the health sciences topper Vivek Tiwari is from Mumbai's RD National College.
Poor show
Even though 16,053 more students appeared for the Maharashtra Health and Technology Common Entrance Testu00a0 than last year, the number of eligible candidates dropped by 2.47 per cent. Of the 1.92 lakh candidates who took the exam this year, only 23,147 passed as compared to 2010 when 26,905 made it out of the 1.76 lakh students who gave the test. The students are vying for about 1 lakh engineering, 7,000 medical and 9,000 pharmacy seats.
