Pune division sent a proposal to its head office a month ago; new stand would be built on the 8-acre property of its office at Shankar Sheth Road

If everything goes as per its plan, then soon a new ST stand would be constructed on the premises of the Pune divisional office on Shankar Sheth Road. A proposal regarding the same was sent by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Pune division, to its head office a month ago. Preference would be given to busses plying on the Pune-Solapur-Pune route.

‘Awaiting permission'
"We did send a proposal to our head office and discussions are on. A major requirement for the construction of the stand on the existing 8-acre plot is sufficient space for buses to enter and exit the premises. For this we want an alternative gate from the backyard of our office, which is close to a canal. We wrote to the state irrigation department, requesting permission to build a bridge over the canal so that buses can ply freely," said MSRTC Pune divisional controller Shailesh Chavan.

He added that follow-up on the issue with the irrigation department would be done once the elections are over. "If they give us permission to construct the bridge, we'll start the work immediately. We need to understand their terms and policies if we want to construct a bridge over the canal. As the project is in its nascent stage, the budget is yet to be finalised," Chavan said.

An official from Pune irrigation department said, "The proposal requesting permission for construction of a bridge over the canal has been received and our seniors are working on it. There are many aspects related to construction that require consideration. Decision will be taken once our officials meet their counterparts at MSRTC.
