Mumbai ranked third in the Secondary School Certificate Examination held in March this year with the pass percentage being 88.92.
Konkan was ranked highest with the pass percentage from this division being 93.79 followed by Kolhapur at 90.36.
In all 14,99,276 students appeared for their SSC exams from all over Maharashtra and 12,51,528 passed which included 6,69,005 boys and 5,90,523 girls with the pass percent of girls being 84.90 and that of boys 82.24.
The pass percentage across nine divisions of Maharashtra was 83.48 percent with girls having outshined boys. The pass percentage of girls was 84.90 percent while that of boys was 82.24 percent.
In Mumbai as well girls were ahead in the race with the pass percentage being 89.58 and that of boys being 88.31.
From Mumbai 3,11,928 students appeared for the exams while only 2,77,353 students passed. Last year 3,11,336 students appeared and 2,76,901 passed from Mumbai.
The board will be giving all students who have passed and are interested in improving their class two options. For class improvement, students can either try during the October 2013 exams or March 2014 SSC exams. "Students are free to choose whichever result they please in case they appear for the SSC exams again in order to improve their class," said Laxmikant Pande, divisional chairman of Mumbai board. Original mark sheets would be given to the students on June 15.
Students who want a photocopy of their answer sheets can pick up the forms from the board office till June 27.u00a0

Earlier, the Board issued a press note stating that the students can obtain their results online after 1 pm and take printouts of their marksheets from the websites. Results will also be available via SMS.
