Company owner who turned down a minor receives phone calls, accusing him of raping the girl
Refusing a job to a girl proved costly for a pharmaceutical company owner, who is now receiving phone calls accusing him of rape.
H Birumal (46) has filed a complaint with the Chamrajpet police seeking action against the alleged blackmailers.
Birumal, who has a workforce of 100 men in his company, said the incident occurred a week ago.
A girl aged around 12 years approached him, claiming she was 18 and said that she was desperately in need of a job.

Aysha, aged around 12 years, approached Birumal claiming she was 18 and desperately needed a job. |
"She told me her family is in a dire situation and she needed a job to support it. After checking her credentials and realising that she is a minor, I told her there is no vacancy," Birumal said.
But the alleged victim, who identified herself as Aysha, did not stop at that.
According to Birumal's police complaint, she started calling him on his mobile every day asking him to reconsider his decision. But Birumal turned down her request every time.

Two days ago, Birumal received a call from the same number and the caller identified himself as Sameer.
Sameer alleged that Birumal had raped Aysha and demanded that a settlement be arrived at to avoid further complications.
"I ignored the demands thinking it could be a prank. But the frequency of calls continued and the caller used to identify with different names like Abdul and Naveen.

He would demand a ransom and threatened to kill me if I did not pay," the complainant said.
Unable to bear the nuisance, Birumal approached the police. The Chamrajpet police have taken the mobile number and are trying to track the person.
