The incident took place at Aruna Creation Housing Society in Pune's Tingare nagar on Saturday afternoon. The woman has been rushed to the hospital and is undergoing treatment. Police said that both had filed for divorce in the Family Court and the case was under trial.
"Mohile had been married to Sheetal for several years. However, there had been several disputes between them in the last few months," said police inspector P B Gophane of Vishrantwadi police station. The deceased Mohile has been identified as a resident of Balajinagar. After filing the divorce application, Sheetal began staying at her parents' house in Tingarenagar, added Gophane.
On Saturday afternoon at 3 pm, Kiran came to Sheetal's parents house. The two were embroiled in a dispute and he assaulted her with a sharp weapon in a fit of a rage.
"Sheetal, who received injuries on her stomach, ran out of the house and yelled for help. A few neighbours immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital. In the meantime, Kiran locked himself in her house and committed suicide by hanging himself," said Gophane. He added that Sheetal's parents were out of station when the incident took place.
Some neighbours who broke open the door saw Kiran hanging from the ceiling. "We have registered a case of suicide and attempt to murder against Kiran and investigation is going on," Gophane said.u00a0
