Rape case registered against husband and his friend

Two friends were drinking and got sloshed, one of them made an indecent proposal, and the other accepted ufffd the deal was that one of them would let the other spend the night with his wife in exchange for money.

Ranjit Sardar flashed some crisp currency before his friend Sitaram Prajapati, offering him the money if he could have sex with the latter's wife, and Prajapati agreed.

The incident came to light nearly a month after it happened, after the victim lodged an FIR with the Rajgad police under Sections 376 (rape) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The victim blamed her husband, who is the manager of a hotel on the Pune-Satara highway, for forcing her into the sexual act with his friend.

The two had married six months ago. Investigating Officer Sanjay Garge from the Rajgad police station said, "The 34-year-old victim was a widow of a Pune city policeman named Bahirme. From him she had a daughter. The bereaved widow married Prajapati after three years of having an affair with him as she was convinced he would accept her daughter and take care of her."

Accused absconding
The officer said the two suspects were absconding and that a search had been launched for them.

"Prajapati and his friend got drunk and were having dinner at the hotel when they reached their deal. Prajapati then called up his wife and asked her to come to the place. When she reached the hotel, Prajapati told her that since he had taken money from Ranjit, she would have to sleep with him," Garge said. "After that Prajapati took her to a room behind the hotel and till the arrival of Ranjit Prajapati had kept her locked up. After the case was filed, the two men made themselves scarce and we are looking for them."
