The BSF has apprehended a man and seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value nearly Rs.3 lakh from West Bengal's Malda district, an official said on Sunday


Kolkata: The BSF has apprehended a man and seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value nearly Rs.3 lakh from West Bengal's Malda district, an official said on Sunday.

The man was held on Saturday night by Border Security Force troopers in a special operation from near Kaliachak area.

"We recovered Rs.2.68 lakh in FICN from the accused along with two mobile phones and four SIM cards," said a BSF officer.

In another operation on Sunday, BSF troopers foiled an attempt to smuggle arms across the Bangladesh border near Mustafapur border outpost area in North 24 Parganas district.

"While the arm smugglers managed to escape, we seized a pistol and two magazines, a katta (locally-made small firearm) and three air guns," the officer said.

The BSF has so far in the year apprehended two FICN smugglers, two arm smugglers and seized nearly Rs.11 lakh in fake notes.
