Police say 25-year-old 'lover' withdrew Rs 5 L from woman's account, threatened to circulate obscene MMS clips of her if she complainedA 33-year-old widow of a former police officer has filed a cheating and molestation case against her 25-year-old 'lover', who allegedly abused her and threatened to expose her obscene clips. The incident took place at the complainant's residence in Koregaon Park on Monday around 11.30am.
A case has been registered against Ashraf Mehboob Khan, a resident of Kondhwa, who deals in buying and selling of old cars. He was arrested by the Bund Garden police and produced in Shivajinagar court yesterday. The court remanded him in police custody for two days.
"The complainant is a widow of a former police officer and has two daughters aged between 10 and 12 years. She met Khan in a beauty parlour where he also used to come to accompany a female friend. After a couple of meetings, love blossomed between the two.
After that Khan regularly used to visit her at her Koregaon Park residence," said Police Sub-Inspector T K Talpade. "The woman in her FIR has alleged that Khan used to take money from her. She gave Khan Rs 2 lakh and a gold chain worth Rs 45,000. Khan recently had withdrawn Rs 5 lakh from the account of the complainant by misusing a cheque issued in her name. When the complainant came to know about this money transfer, she got angry and asked Khan to return her money."
Talpade said Khan refused to return her money. "On Monday morning, Khan had gone to her place in Koregaon Park but refused to give the money, which led to a quarrel. Khan started abusing and hitting her, and also threatened to circulate an obscene MMS clip of hers. When she shouted for help, some neighbours came to her rescue and called the police," Talpade said. "The complainant was given a receipt for Rs 45,000, which we will use as evidence against Khan in court. Investigations are on and we are now looking for the MMS clips."
