The accused Amar Singh stabbed his brother to death on Sunday

A 36-year-old man killed his younger brother, suspecting he had an illicit relationship with his wife. The incident took place in Moti Nagar area of west Delhi, on Sunday. According to a police official, the accused has been identified as Amar Singh (36), a resident of Moti Nagar. The weapon, a knife, which was used for the crime was recovered from his possession. The deceased has been identified as Puran Singh. On November 12, police got information from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital that Puran Singh was admitted to the hospital after being injured by falling from the stairs.

Sibling rivalry!
"We immediately rushed to the hospital, where Puran Singh was found unfit for statement and was under treatment. There was no eyewitness to the crime. Later, Puran Singh died at the hospital," the police official informed.u00a0u00a0

An inquiry was conducted by the police at the residence of the deceased. There was a rumour among the neighbours that Puran Singh was having an illicit relationship with the wife of his elder brother for the past 6-7 years.u00a0 "There were regular quarrels between the deceased and his brother Amar Singh over this suspicion. Amar Singh had warned Puran Singh many times to refrain from such wrongful acts," a senior police official said.u00a0

Police said that on the night of November 12, Puran Singh was sitting with his friends in his room and abusing Amar Singh. Listening to the noise, Amar Singh came to his room carrying a knife and attacked him. He stabbed him on the chest, abdomen and other parts of the body, and then fled from the spot.u00a0

The confession
"During the course of investigation, exhibits have been taken into police possession and the accused was thoroughly searched. Later on, accused Amar Singh was apprehended and during sustained interrogation, he confessed his crime, saying that he killed his brother because he suspected that his wife had an illicit relationship with him," said V Ranganathan, additional commissioner of police, west Delhi.
