He claimed she was having an extramarital affair
For the three children of Gokalpuri area in north-east Delhi, their father's gruesome act will probably remain etched in the memories forever. Thirty-five-year-old Nizamuddin mercilessly slit the throat of his wife while she was sleeping with her children. After the act, which the children happened to witness, he threatened them not to reveal the reality to anyone.
Police said that Nizamuddin, a weaver by profession, lived with his wife Shabana, 32, and three children in Gokalpuri area.u00a0 On March 22, Nizamudddin was working at his home when he had an argument with her.u00a0 After some time, Shabana went to another room to sleep with her children. Seething with anger, Nizamuddin followed her to the room and in a fit of rage slit her throat with a knife while the terrified children looked on. Shabana died on the spot.
"The incident was reported to the police at 4 am the next day by neighbours of the accused. Our team found the body lying in a pool of blood. Initially, Nizamudddin said that two thieves had broken into his house and killed his wife. But police officials were not convinced by his version, so they asked his 12-year-old son. The boy revealed that it was his father who had killed their mother and told them to keep silent," said a police officer.
"Nizamuddin was then taken into the custody and during questioning he claimed that his wife was having an extra marital affair and they often quarreled over the issue. On Tuesday, both of them again had a fight over this issue till 3 in the morning after which he killed her. He then told his children to tell all that it was the handiwork of some thieves," the officer added.
Killed for nothing
On March 3rd a woman was strangled to death by her husband in front of their kids. The incident was reported from Narela area. A dispute over a petty issue broke out between Ranjit, 33 and his wife Shikha, 30. Ranjit, who was drunk, then strangulated Shikha in front of his children, locked his house from outside and fled the spot. The neighbours, who heard children crying, called the cops. The accused is from Munger in Bihar and worked in a private company in Narela industrial area.
