A man was stabbed last night on Mysore road near KSRTC Satellite bus stand. Sanju Kumar (28), a resident of Sunkadakatte Health Layout was stabbed in his stomach and left leg by unknown persons yesterday around 11.30 pm.

Kumar was taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment and later shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Dildar, an autorickshaw driver who took him to Victoria Hospital, said, "I saw this man riding pillion on a bike and shouting as he was drunk near BHEL gate when there were passengers in my vehicle. Later, when I was returning, I saw him near the Satellite bus stand standing with another person on a bike."

Dildar said that the second time he saw Kumar, he had been stabbed. Dildar stated that he has no clue what happened to Kumar within that gap of 20 minutes. "He tried to stop my autorickshaw but by that time night beat police officers came to the spot and asked me to take him to the hospital," he said.

One of the police officers present at the Victoria Hospital said, "He is not giving us correct information as he is drunk. With the help of his mobile phone we have contacted his wife who is on her way to the hospital. We will speak to him once he comes back to his senses."

Sanju's wife and motheru00a0 reached the hospital around 2 am. The officials took Dildar to the Byatarayanapura police station to record his statement.

The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case.
