The officers of Preventive Unit of the Pune Customs Commissionerate seized a consignment of 140 kg of Ganja worth Rs 2.8 lakh on Solapur-Pune Highway.
Acting on a tip off, Customs Unit laid au00a0 trap near Race Course, intercepted a car and arrested Satish Manik Shinde, (26), while he was transporting the contraband from Naraynkhed in Andhra Pradesh to Panvel.
Additional Commissioner Gopinath said, "Earlier investigation revealed that Shinde was driving a car owned by another person.
"He has told us that he was supposed to deliver it to another person in Panvel. Customs Unit in Latur has been alerted about this arrest." Last year, almost 885 kilograms of Ganja valued at Rs 15 Lakh was seized and 12 persons were arrested in related cases.
